Description: Hofstra University's School of Health Professions and Human Services, Department of Population Health, is seeking applications for an anticipated Full-Time Tenure-Track Assistant/ Associate Professor of Health Informatics & Data Analysis beginning September 1, 2022. The Department of Population Health is home to five vibrant and growing graduate programs – Health Informatics, Health Administration, Public Health, Health Professions Education and Gerontology, as well as two undergraduate programs – Community Health and Health Science. The Department of Population Health prepares students to work on interprofessional teams of administrators, researchers, clinicians, educators, social service providers and policymakers to achieve improved health outcomes for communities, large and small.

Qualifications: Qualifications:

• Candidates must possess a doctoral degree
• A minimum of 3 years documented experience in the field of health informatics and related areas, including:
o Previous practical experience in the design, development, adoption, and application of IT-based innovations in healthcare services delivery, management and planning.
o Hands-on experience with the application of data analytical technologies, such as Tableau, PowerBI, R, Python and/or SQL. Experience working with large healthcare datasets is preferred.
• Scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning)
• Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate students, including courses in data analytics, health informatics and health technology.
• Experience with program accreditation, particularly for health informatics is preferred.
Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and teach courses in the Masters in Science in Health Informatics and Masters of Health Administration programs.
• Advise health informatics learners each semester for course registration and other program requirements
• Engage with local healthcare organizations to identify practicum placements for students and to help market the program.
• Identify programmatic enhancements and support the development and approval of the proposed changes.
• Mentor students participating in a practicum and provide support to the onsite supervisors.
• Actively participate in local and national professional organizations to create awareness of the program and stay current with trends and evolving needs.
• Set standards of performance for classroom and practical instruction.
• Develop, implement, review and analyze evaluation and outcomes mechanisms.
• Participate in scholarly activities.
• Demonstrate a commitment to strategies for professional development.
• Actively participate in service to the department, school, University, and community
