Graduate Orientation Leader for Summer Orientation(Two Positions)

Duties and Skills: This extracurricular position provides a unique opportunity to qualified graduate students, as part of their overall educational program at Hofstra, to learn and develop leadership, mentoring, communication and teamwork skills!

• Consult and cooperate with members of entire campus community in support of the Summer Orientation Program;
• Maintain excellent communication and organizational skills, be detail oriented, have experience in an on-call capacity, be able to maintain a professional demeanor, serve as secondary contact for on-call incidents and emergencies during evenings, and be available to live in a University provided residence hall from Monday through Thursdays;
• Attend and participate in training program, emergency meetings, weekly program meetings, coffee houses, orientation events;
• Assist with check-in process and other residential-related duties;
• Maintain evening hours on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays during orientation.
• Separate from the Orientation Leader position, must additionally work as a Student Employee for up to 25 hours per week in the Student Leadership and Activities Department performing general office work, including: assigning orientation dates, maintaining orientation database, answering phone and email correspondence and must be computer proficient (MS Access and Excel a plus).

Wage for Student Employee position: $7.25/hour
Stipend for Graduate Orientation Leader position:$ 1110.25 stipend. Total of stipend and hourly wage is $3500. On-campus housing provided until August 23, 2014; $300 meal card and group meals during Orientation.

Hours: Monday through Friday office hours up to 25 hours a week from May 21 to August 13, 2014
Start Date: May 21, 2014
Qualifications: Applicant must be an accepted full-time matriculated student in a Hofstra University graduate degree program by Fall 2014.
