Description: The Assistant Provost for Budget and Planning is a full-time administrative position within the Office of the Provost. The position will be responsible to process and maintain all faculty workload, personnel files, and related human resource (HR)/payroll transactions into the university’s administrative system, Ellucian Banner. Transactions would include all full-time salaries, ranks, overload and adjunct rates, faculty workload, faculty released/banked time, supplemental pays, promotions, and separations. The candidate for this position must be team oriented and have the ability to work independently at times, have the ability to multitask, and meet deadlines on a consistent basis.

The primary duties and responsibilities of the position include:
• Review and process each semester’s workload by faculty member, ensuring all required information, time management, and resulting payroll, is accurate for entry into the Banner system.
• Develop a thorough understanding of HR Banner functionality including how the HR module interfaces with other Banner modules.
• Responsible for creating a work environment that maintains confidentiality.
• Maintain HR transactions for faculty released time, banked time, promotions, tenure, and separations, into the Banner system in accordance with established quality and accuracy standards.
• Be detailed oriented and have the ability to multitask and plan work priorities and vacation requests around strict payroll processing deadlines.
• Answer phone calls and assist faculty members with inquiries related to human resource and collective bargaining issues.
• Manage the faculty workload database; develop reporting queries, create and analyze human resources data; and distribute meaningful informational/control reports to assist managers with compliance to pre-established policies.
• Assist the Associate Provost for Budget and Planning with ad-hoc financial analysis.
• Review, approve, and initiate, administrative computer system access for academic faculty, staff, and administrators.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, human resources/payroll management or business management area required (Master’s degree preferred). At least five years of progressively responsible experience managing human resource/payroll processes in a non-profit environment, higher education experience preferred. Must possess strong written and verbal communications and organizational skills and have the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment, meet strict monthly deadlines, multitask, prioritize projects, and interact effectively with individuals at all levels. Computer literacy should include the Microsoft Office suite of software, preferably Banner (administrative financial system), and experience in data management maintenance is required. The ideal candidate will be expected to have the aptitude to acquire skills as they become necessary.
