The AI Foundations, Ethics & Applications Certificate introduces the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, examines its effects on society, and connects AI to work across academic and professional fields.
Designed for learners from every background, the interdisciplinary curriculum builds practical AI literacy while encouraging careful reflection on the ethical, cultural, and professional questions surrounding emerging technologies.
No prior coding or computer science experience is required.
The certificate can support professional development, future study, or more informed use of AI in your field. Its balance of technical understanding and responsible decision-making helps learners engage with AI in ways that are useful, reflective, and socially aware.

Per Course
Build the certificate one course at a time.
Each course is $975 for Continuing Education students. Complete all three courses for the non-credit certificate or take an individual course that fits your goals.
Currently available: CSC 005, Overview of AI and Computer Science, for Fall 2026. CE students join the same class sections as Hofstra students taking the course for academic credit.

Program Requirements
Two Required Courses and One Elective
Complete all three courses for the non-credit certificate, or choose an individual course that fits your goals. CE tuition is $975 per course.
The corresponding academic certificate carries 9 semester hours for credit students. Continuing Education participants enroll on a non-credit basis and attend the same classes.
