This engaging five-week course draws on the science of positive psychology to provide practical, research-backed strategies for increasing happiness, building resilience, managing stress, strengthening motivation, and creating a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Through interactive discussions, self-reflection, and experiential activities, you will explore mindset, optimism, character strengths, purpose, goal setting, flourishing, and sustainable well-being. You will learn to leverage your strengths, develop healthier thinking patterns, cultivate positive emotions, and build habits that support long-term well-being both personally and professionally.

Whether you want to prevent burnout, enhance your effectiveness at work, strengthen your relationships, or live with greater happiness and purpose, you will leave with evidence-based tools and a personalized action plan to help you thrive.

Jodi Heywood, MPA, CAPP

Positive Psychology Educator • Public Health Professional • Adjunct Instructor

Jodi Heywood is a positive psychology educator and public health professional who is passionate about helping people apply the science of well-being to everyday life.

She believes that happiness, resilience, and a meaningful life are not simply matters of chance—they are skills that can be intentionally developed through evidence-based practices.

With more than 25 years of experience in education, management, healthcare, wellness, fitness, and behavior change, Jodi translates research into practical strategies that are engaging, accessible, and immediately applicable. She teaches university courses in positive psychology, mindfulness, stress management, and behavior change, and presents workshops for educators, healthcare professionals, businesses, community organizations, and fitness professionals.

Jodi is also a National Continuing Education Provider for NASM and AFAA and has presented at universities, healthcare organizations, and national fitness conferences.

Known for her warm, engaging, and interactive teaching style, Jodi combines current research with meaningful discussion, self-reflection, and experiential activities. Her goal is for participants to leave feeling inspired, empowered, and equipped with practical tools they can immediately apply to build greater resilience, enhance well-being, and create lasting positive change.

Learn how your thoughts shape your well-being.

  • Growth mindset versus fixed mindset.
  • Optimism and positive self-talk.
  • Understanding the brain's negativity bias.
  • Self-compassion and prioritizing positive experiences.
  • Practical strategies for managing everyday challenges.

Discovering Your Strengths

Learn to use your strengths to thrive.

  • Identifying your unique character strengths.
  • Recognizing strengths in yourself and others.
  • Creating more engagement through flow and mindfulness.
  • Practical exercises to use your strengths more intentionally.

Motivation and Meaningful Goals

Turn good intentions into lasting action.
