Event: Celebrating the Irish Writer and More!
Time/Location: 11:15am-12:40pm, Main Floor of Axinn Library, South Campus
Description: Warm up for St. Patrick’s Day by reciting a short snippet from your favorite reading by an Irish author or with an Irish-related theme. A light lunch will be available along with Irish step dancing

Date: Friday, March 18th
Event: Reel Ireland Film Series: Michael Collins
Time/Location: 6pm-8pm, Cultural Center Theater (directly across from entrance to Axinn Library, south campus)
Description: Written and directed by Neil Jordan and starring Liam Neeson, the film uses the life and death of Collins to reveal both unity and divisions among Irish nationalists in the aftermath of the Easter Rising. Discussion facilitated by Professor Patricia Navarra.

Event: Imagining the Future by Celebrating the Past: the Centennial of the Easter Rising
Time/Location: 12:45pm-2:10pm, Student Center Plaza Room Center
Description: Drawing from his research on murals and other public symbolic displays in West Belfast, Dr. Greg Maney, looks at the changing and contested representations of the Easter Rising. He argues that commemorations of the Rising are as much if not more about the present and the future than the past.
