Regardless of the type of advice you need or questions you have, the staff in the Office of Educational Support Services can assist you directly or point you in the right direction.
The Office of Educational Support Services is responsible for the evaluation of graduate students to determine whether candidates meet the liberal arts and sciences general education core, and the content areas requirements for secondary studies. Following the acceptance of students to school-based programs leading to New York State teacher certification, transcripts are evaluated and candidates are notified of their deficiencies. The advisement process is ongoing for candidates with pre-requisite deficiencies who need to fulfill the requirements as co-requisites to their graduate studies by the time they graduate from their program.
Through individual appointments, e-mails and drop-in advising this office helps current and prospective students who are unsure of what courses to take to meet their deficiencies to find appropriate and affordable courses.
Current students are strongly recommended to obtain pre-approval from this office before registering for a course to fulfill their pre-requisite deficiencies. Prospective students are encouraged to call ahead to confirm walk-in availability at (516) 463-5747.
The Office of Educational Support Services also verifies each candidate’s program completion through the major approval process.
