Application Requirements

Applications for the Ed.D. in Educational and Policy Leadership are reviewed throughout the year on a rolling basis.

  • Phase One Applicants

    K-12 Leadership Concentration - Prospective candidates without NYS Certification in Administration

    Applicants must have at least two years of PreK-12 certified classroom teaching or pupil personnel experience and possess a master’s degree.  The following materials are to be submitted online to the Office of Graduation Admissions:

    • Proof of New York state teacher certification in one of the areas indicated above.
    • A detailed resume of professional and related experiences.
    • A statement of purpose for advanced study in context of personal and professional goals.
    • Official transcripts of undergraduate and graduate study.
    • An official report of scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), with scores at or above the 55th percentile.
    • Three professional recommendations, submitted through the ETS Personal Potential Index service.
    • An interview with the doctoral program director.

    Higher Education Leadership Concentration - Prospective candidates without master’s degree in Higher Education

    Applicants must submit the following materials online to the Office of Graduation Admissions:

    • A detailed resume of professional and related experiences.
    • A statement of purpose for advanced study in context of personal and professional goals.
    • Official transcripts of undergraduate (and graduate study if applicable), with a mimimum GPA of 3.0 or better.
    • An official report of scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), with scores at or above the 55th percentile.
    • Three professional recommendations, submitted through the ETS Personal Potential Index service.
    • An interview with the doctoral program director.
  • Phase Two Applicants

    Applicants must have completed a master’s degree and submit the following materials, in addition to the application:

    1. A detailed resume of professional and related experiences.
    2. A statement of purpose for advanced study in context of personal and professional goals.
    3. Official transcripts of undergraduate and graduate study.
    4. An official report of scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), with scores at or above the 55th percentile.
    5. Three professional recommendations, submitted through the ETS Personal Potential Index service.
    6. An interview with the doctoral program director.

    In addition, applicants to the K-12 strand must provide:

    1. Proof of New York state certification in teaching or pupil personnel, and administration (if completed)
