Professors of Information Technology and Quantiative Methods Dr. John Affisco, Dr. Javad Paknejad, and Dr. Farrokh Nasri won the Best Paper Award for Contribution to Theory for their publication titled “Analysis of Vendor Environmental Costs in the JELS Model with Sustainability” at the 2014 Northeast Decision Sciences Institute meeting.
Dr. John Affisco Presents Paper at the 2013 Decisions Sciences Institute Meeting
Dr. John Affisco attended the 2013 Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) meeting in Baltimore, Maryland in November where he presented a paper co-authored with Dr. Javad Paknejad and Dr. Farrokh Nasri, professors of information technology and quantitative methods, titled “Vendor Fixed Environmental Cost in the Joint Economic Lot Size Model with Sustainability Considerations.” In his capacity as president-elect of the Northeast Region Decision Sciences Institute (NEDSI), Dr. Affisco participated in the DSI Regional Activities Committee and the NEDSI officer’s meeting. After the spring 2014 NEDSI meeting, Dr. Affisco will begin his term as president of NEDSI.
Dr. John Affisco Presides Over 42nd Annual Northeast Decision Sciences Institute
The Frank G. Zarb School of Business sponsored the 42nd annual meeting of the Northeast Decision Sciences Institute (NEDSI), an affiliate of the Decision Sciences Institute – a multidisciplinary professional society dedicated to the development and application of quantitative and behavioral methods to administrative problems. The event, organized by John Affisco, Ph.D., professor of information technology and quantitative methods, was held in New York from April 5-7, 2013. It brought together more than 200 faculty, students and practitioners from the United States and around the globe to present their research. In addition, several Zarb faculty members were elected to NEDS leadership positions for the coming year, including Dr. Affisco as president.
