Long Island at a Turning Point: It's Everyone's Opportunity

The Wilbur F. Breslin Center for Real Estate Studies co-sponsored a lecture breakfast and immigration summit for the Hofstra University Center for Civic Engagement and Long Island Wins organization on February 26, 2015 at the Hofstra University Club, David S. Mack Hall. The breakfast keynote speaker was Michael J. Dowling, President and CEO of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, who discussed his personal journey immigrating to the United States and his beliefs that Long Island can spearhead immigrant relations and act as an epicenter of change for inclusiveness. Other panel discussions and lectures took place throughout the day at the Sondra and David S. Mack Student Center focusing on defining the future direction of immigrant inclusion and integration on Long island. One panel focused on the decisions of state and local governments and the consequences of their actions. The breakfast and summit was attended by experts in public policy, local politicians, business leaders and Hofstra faculty and students.
