75th Anniversary Juried Alumni Art Exhibition

In celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Hofstra University, the Hofstra University Museum will host a juried alumni professional art exhibition.  The exhibition opportunity will be open to all alumni of Hofstra University.  All submissions will be juried, and the jurors’ decisions about selection will be final.  The accepted works of art will be on view in the David Filderman Gallery, Ninth floor, Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library, from February 28 – May 27, 2011.

How to enter:
Submit the following to the Hofstra University Museum by July 1, 2010

1. Entry form
2. Resume and artist statement
3. CD with digital images:  high resolution jpgs (8 x 10 in., 300 dpi).  Please label CD with name.
4. Application fee of $10.00 per entry.  Please make check payable to the Hofstra University Museum.

  • All artists must have graduated from Hofstra University. 
  • Works in all media will be considered but must be of safe and stable construction. 
  • Works of art cannot exceed 60 inches in height x 48 inches in width (including frame if 2-dimensional) or weigh in excess of 50 lbs. 
  • A maximum of 3 works of art may be submitted by each artist. 
  • Artists assume responsibility for the arrangements and cost of transportation of their works to and from the Hofstra University Museum.

The exhibition will be juried by three arts professionals:

Ellen Sragow, the founding director of the Sragow Gallery, NYC and an alumnae of Hofstra University.

Professor Dan Devine, Department of Fine Arts, Art History, Comparative Arts and Culture, Hofstra University.

Karen T. Albert, Assistant Director of Exhibitions and Collections, Hofstra University Museum



Dates to Remember:

  • Entries must be submitted by:  July 1, 2010
  • Finalists will be announced:  September 15, 2010
  • Works of art MUST be delivered, framed, wired, and ready to hang, on: February 17 and 18, 2011
  • Works of art MUST be picked up or returned at artist’s expense on: May 31 and June 1, 2011
