Bio
Dr. Stevans received a B.S. in economics from Hofstra University. He holds an M.S. in economics and a Ph.D. in economics/statistics from Oklahoma State University. His dissertation was titled Urban Property Crime and the Distribution of Income.
Prior to coming to Hofstra University, Dr. Stevans was an assistant professor of quantitative methods at Adelphi University. He has also served as a research associate in the health care field for the department of economic research at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Stevans has done consulting for Newsday, the Town of Islip, the faculty unions at Adelphi and NYIT, North Shore/LIJ hospitals, Cablevision, and Interiors Magazine. He has also testified in the New York State and Federal courts many times as an expert witness in economics/statistics.
Dr. Stevans has published articles in the Journal of Consumer Policy, Computational Statistics and Data Analysis, Labour, Quantitative Finance, Education Economics, the Journal of Income Distribution, the International Journal of Applied Economics, the International Journal of Maritime History, the Review of Black Economy, Social Indicators Research, Applied Economics, the Atlantic Economic Journal, Work and Occupation, and the Journal of Post-Keynesian Economics.
He is a member of the American Statistical Association.
