Bio

Since May 2016, Professor Lawrence Waldman has served as Senior Advisor to First Long Island Investors, LLC. Previously, he served as Advisor to the accounting firm of EisnerAmper LLP, after serving as Partner-in-Charge of Commercial Audit Practice Development for Long Island. Prior to joining EisnerAmper, Professor Waldman was the Partner-in-Charge of Commercial Audit Practice Development for Holtz Rubenstein Reminick, LLP from 2006 to 2011. Professor Waldman was the Managing Partner of the Long Island office of KPMG LLP from 1994 to 2006, the accounting firm where he began his career in 1972.

Professor Waldman is currently the Treasurer of the Long Island Association, as well as a member of its board of directors. In addition, he is a member of the board of directors and Treasurer of each of the Long Island Angel Network and the Advanced Energy Research Center at Stony Brook University and a member of the Dean's Advisory Board of the Hofstra University Frank G. Zarb School of Business. He previously served as the Chairman of the board of trustees of the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) and as Chair and a member of the finance and audit committee of its Board of Trustees. Professor Waldman serves as a member of the board of directors of Bovie Medical Corporation and serves as chair of its audit committee.  Professor Waldman is also a member of Supervisory Committee of Bethpage Federal Credit Union. From 2014 to 2017 he was a member and Chair of the Audit Committee for the State University of New York Board of Trustees.

A devoted volunteer for a broad array of charitable and civic organizations, Professor Waldman served as President of the Nassau Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was the President of the East Williston Union Free School District and was the Treasurer of the Nassau Suffolk School Boards Association. He also served on the Board of the United Way of Long Island. In addition, Professor Waldman is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
