Bio

Shu Yang is awarded Ph.D. in the Narendra Paul Loomba Department of Management at Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College, the City University of New York (CUNY). Shu has earned a BA in Economics from Southwest Jiaotong University, China, an MA in International Business from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, China, and an MBA from New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), New York.


She dedicated to producing high-quality innovation/entrepreneurship research and her strength is to conduct quantitative studies at the venture level. Her dissertation and current research pipeline build up on Startup Accelerators--an innovative resource provider for early-stage entrepreneurs. Her research has been published in the Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Research Journal, and Entrepreneurship Education and Pedagogy. In addition, she has also won several research grants from both Baruch College and CUNY Graduate Center and her research has been presented at nationally recognized conferences, including the Academy of Management Conference, SMS Annual International Conference, the Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference, the Social Entrepreneurship Conference, and the Sustainability, Ethics, and Entrepreneurship Conference.


Prior to joining Hofstra, Shu taught management courses and entrepreneurship courses as an adjunct professor at Baruch College Zicklin School of Business. She was awarded the John Elliot Teaching Award in 2015 by the Zicklin School of Business.


In addition, Shu has extensive experience of mentoring and coaching students and early-stage entrepreneurs. From Fall 2016 to Spring 2018, she worked as a Writing Across Curriculums (WAC)/Communication Fellow in the Bernard Schwartz Communication Institute at Baruch College. Additionally, she also serves as the key Advisory Board member of Jewel Capital, a New York-based startup working in the field of commercial real estate loans.
