Bio

Amy Karofsky is an Associate Professor of Philosophy. She joined the department in 1997. She teaches with the First Year Connections program and Hofstra's Honors College.

Dr. Karofsky is the co-author of, Philosophy through Film, 3rd. ed., (Routledge, 2015).

Dr. Karofsky's research focuses on the philosophical position of necessitarianism, the view that absolutely nothing about the universe could have been otherwise than what it actually is. She has published articles related to that issue and has recently completed a manuscript in which she defends that position.
