Stephen S. Leonard

Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music

Born in the New York area Stephen Leonard has been teaching classic guitar at Hofstra University since 2007 and at Nassau Community College since 1975.  During a five-year residence in Paris, he taught at the Municipal Conservatory of Saint-Germain-en-Laye and the National Conservatory of Ville-d’Avray.

At the Lecole Normale de Musique, Paris, where he obtained his degree, he was a student of guitarist, Alberto Ponce.  He also attended master classes with composer, guitarist, Emilio Pujol in Spain and guitarist, Alirio Diaz in Venezuela. As a recitalist, Mr. Leonard has performed extensively in Spain, France, and the United States including performances on national television (NBC) and New York Public Radio (WNYC) as well as National Spanish Radio.
