Maureen Connolly McFeely teaches Shakespeare and English Literature for the English Department, and Introduction to Theater and Broadway and Beyond for the Department of Drama of Dance. Combining her interests in Shakespeare and theater, she has served as dramaturg for the Hofstra Shakespeare Festival since 1993. As dramaturg, she advises the director on concept and staging, works with the actors on understanding and speaking Shakespeare?s verse, and lectures at the pre-performance symposiums. For the recently established Festival touring company, she created ?This Bud of Love: A One-Hour Romeo and Juliet? and ?Something Wicked: A One-Hour Macbeth.? In addition to Shakespeare in performance, her fields of interest include Shakespeare and gender, and Shakespeare and religion. Her articles have appeared in Subjects on the World?s Stage: Essays on British Literature of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, Shakespeare Bulletin, and A Companion to 20th Century Poetry.

She has been Project Director of the Queens English Project and the Queens Writing Across the Curriculum Project and a consultant to school districts in Queens and Nassau on the teaching of writing. She lectures frequently on Long Island on Shakespeare and on theater.

She received an A.M. from Brown University and a Ph.D. from CUNY Graduate Center. She is married to John Roger McFeely and has three grown children.
