Greetings Hofstra Pride,
I hope this email finds you well and ready for an exciting Spring 2024 semester in the School of Health Professions and Human Services! As we embark on the academic journey of a new semester, I want to extend a warm welcome back to each of you.
I trust that your winter break provided much needed rest and rejuvenation. Now, as we dive into the semester, I encourage you to approach your studies with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a commitment to excellence. Our faculty and administrators are here to support you; so, do not hesitate to engage them, ask questions, and seek guidance.
Additionally, I want to highlight the importance of involvement in school events and activities. National Public Health Week is just around the corner, taking place during the first two weeks of April. It's a fantastic opportunity to connect with your peers, faculty, and professionals in the field. I encourage you to participate in the events, as they offer valuable insights and critical chances for networking.
Lastly, I am thrilled to announce a significant change for our school. Starting July 1, 2024, we will officially become the School of Health Sciences (SHS). Our new name is progressive and compelling, and it better reflects the composition of degree programs in the school. "SHS" conveys our commitment to scholarship and knowledge creation through scientific inquiry of health-related issues. Of course, we will continue our reputation for innovative and high-quality instruction within a student centric culture. I am excited about the possibilities the name change brings and look forward to continuing our tradition of excellence under the new title.
On behalf of the faculty, we wish you a successful and fulfilling Spring semester. May you achieve your academic goals and make the most of the opportunities that come your way.
In Blue and Gold,
Reggie Alston, Ph.D.
