Fall Festival - Family Weekend

Family Weekend

Your family is cordially invited to participate in the events of Hofstra Fall Festival: Alumni, Student and Family WeekendFriday-Sunday, September 27-29, 2019.

To register for Family Weekend, please visit hofstra.edu/fwregistration. Please note that there are NO REFUNDS for the fees and tickets. Please make hotel room reservations early: hofstra.edu/hotels

Events may sell out; please register early. The online pre-registration at lower prices ends on Wednesday, September 25. You need to register by Tuesday, September 10 to receive a beautiful Fall Festival bag.

TENTATIVE PROGRAM

FAMILY WEEKEND REGISTRATION FEE: online $15 per person ($25 per person on the day of the event). Events with extra cost are noted on the tentative program below. Please read the detailed information about events, tickets, and pricing below the program.

Friday, September 27

  • 2:30-6 p.m. Check-In; Chance Auction Display
  • 2:30-7:50 p.m. Get Fit in the Fit
  • 1 p.m. Muslim Community: Jummah Prayer Service
  • 3-5 p.m. Faculty Lectures and Information Sessions
  • 6:30 p.m. Welcome Reception
  • 5:30-8 p.m. Jewish Community: Shabbat Service and Dinner
  • 8-10 p.m. Fall Festival Variety Show - Featuring the PRIDE Court (Student Talent Show)

Saturday, September 28

  • 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Check-In; Chance Auction Display
  • 10 a.m.-7:50 p.m. Get Fit in the Fit
  • 9-10:15 a.m. Family Breakfast
  • 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Hofstra Cub Zone (children 6-11), Information Sessions, Faculty Lectures, Arboretum Tour
  • 12:30-2 p.m. PRIDE Expo
  • 2-7 p.m. Fall Festival Concert and Carnival (online $30 per person pre-registration; $45 per person on the day of the event; Hofstra students are free but must swipe their HofstraCard in the Student Center)
  • 4-8 p.m. Open Game Room
  • 6:30-8 p.m. Taste of Hofstra ($30 per person for adults and children age 7 and older, including Hofstra students. Hofstra students must be accompanied by their family members.)
  • 7 p.m. Grucci Fireworks

Sunday, September 29

  • 8:30 a.m.-9:50 p.m. Get Fit in the Fit
  • 11 a.m. Catholic Mass
  • Noon-2 p.m. Field Hockey vs. Yale
  • 1-3 p.m. Women’s Soccer vs. Elon University

INFORMATION ABOUT EVENTS, TICKETS AND PRICING:

THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR PURCHASED REGISTRATION AND TICKETS. The Family Weekend Registration fee. After purchasing the Family Weekend Registration, you may purchase the Fall Festival concert and Taste of Hofstra tickets that are sold at extra cost. Accommodations are not included in the Family Weekend or other fees. The online pre-registration at lower prices ends on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. You need to register by Tuesday, September 10 to receive a beautiful Fall Festival bag. You will pick up your gift at the event check-in.

TICKETS

The tickets are not mailed home and will be available at the Check-In area as per Family Weekend schedule above. If you have already paid the required Family Weekend Registration and wish to purchase additional tickets for the Fall Festival Concert and Taste of Hofstra, please call the Hofstra Athletic Ticket Office at (516) HOF-TIXX (463-8499).

DO NOT COUNT YOUR HOFSTRA STUDENT WHEN PURCHASING REQUIRED FAMILY WEEKEND REGISTRATION. Hofstra students attend all events free except for Taste for Hofstra Reception ($30). Students need to swipe their Hofstra ID card in the Mack Student Center by 5 p.m. on Saturday to be admitted to the concert. The registration area will close promptly at 5 p.m. In addition, students may want to invite their non-Hofstra friends (apart from their family members) and buy up to two guest tickets for the concert but only during the online pre-registration and at a full price. Students will receive more information in their Hofstra Pride email account.

Children age 12 and older pay adult price. Children 11 years of age and under are free for all events except Taste of Hofstra (see below). Children must be accompanied by a paying adult. The Carnival, concurrent with the concert, offers activities and rides for younger and older children. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CONCERT ITSELF MAY CONTAIN ADULT CONTENT AND IS NOT INTENDED FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES.

PARENT COUNCIL FUNDRAISER

Please support the Parent Council Chance Auction fundraiser. You will be able to view the beautiful baskets and purchase Chance Auction and 50/50 Raffle tickets on Friday and Saturday. This is an opportunity to win big prizes, such as weekend hotel stay packages and Disney World vouchers. All proceeds from Parent Council Chance Auction benefit Hofstra student and family programming.

FALL FESTIVAL CONCERT AND CARNIVAL

The Fall Festival Concert and Carnival takes place in an open field, rain or shine. Please bring your lawn chairs, blankets, umbrellas and your other wet- and hot-weather gear. Food will be available for purchase on the field. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CONCERT MAY CONTAIN ADULT CONTENT AND IS NOT INTENDED FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES. The Carnival offers activities and rides for younger and older children.

TASTE OF HOFSTRA RECEPTION

Parents and family members are invited to network with alumni at the Taste of Hofstra reception, organized by Development and Alumni Affairs, at 6:30 p.m. in the Mack Hall, University Club, on Saturday, September 28. Tickets are $30 per guest, including Hofstra students and children age 7 and older; beer and wine are provided with ID. Hofstra students must be accompanied by their family members. This event regularly sells out during the summer so please register online early.
