School of Medicine Calendar

As the fall semester begins to wind down, it's time for our residential students to begin planning for winter break/intercession and the Spring 2021 semester.

Students NOT Returning to the Residence Halls for the Spring Semester
All residential students NOT returning to spring 2021 housing MUST check-out of the residence halls and return their keys 24 hours after they leave campus for the semester, or no later than 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020. Failure to do so will result in fees and fines as well as intersession housing charges.

Students Returning for the Spring Semester
Prior to leaving the residence halls for the semester, we ask that you:

  • Close and lock all windows to prevent leaks.
  • Put your HVAC unit on a low heat setting.
  • Remove all perishable items from your refrigerator, clean and unplug the unit.
  • Unplug all electronics and remove all trash.
  • Suite-style residents MUST remove all personal belongings from the bathrooms to allow custodial staff to clean and sanitize.
  • You do not have to pack up and remove all of your belongings, but please take all valuables (money, jewelry, electronics/chargers, medication, passports, etc.)
  • If there is an unassigned space in your room, keep your belongings on your side ONLY. The Office of Residence Life assigns new spring residents to vacant spaces.

Students can access their residence hall after this date, but they must notify the Office of Residence Life at reslife[at] five (5) business days before their arrival so that swipe access can be restored. YOU MUST RECEIVE CONFIRMATION THAT YOUR SWIPE ACCESS HAS BEEN REACTIVATED BEFORE YOU RETURN TO YOUR RESIDENCE HALL.

COVID-19 Protocols During Intersession/Winter Break

  • Any student staying for all or part of intersession will be required to submit to all testing protocols, including surveillance testing.
  • Students who are returning from states that are a part of the New York State travel advisory or returning from outside of the United States must quarantine off campus for 14 days before arrival to the residence halls.
  • No guests are permitted in your room or suite, or in any area of the residence halls.
  • Students will be required to complete the Student Health Screening Questionnaire each day they are on campus.

Please note, the university will close on Tuesday, December 24, 2020  and will reopen on Monday, January 4, 2021. During this time, all emergencies should be called into Public Safety for immediate assistance. If you have any questions regarding this e-mail or the check-out process, please contact your Resident Director or email us at Reslife[at]
