Assistant Director of Student Advocacy and Prevention Awareness
Kathleen joins the Office of Student Advocacy and Prevention Awareness with a wealth of Residence Life and Student Activities experience. Originally from Northern New Jersey, Kathleen completed her undergraduate degree at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, where she first found her passion for working with students as a Resident Assistant. Kathleen pursued her Master’s degree in Applied Psychology with a focus in Community Psychology at Sacred Heart, where she was a Residence Hall Director for 2 years. During her graduate work, Kathleen served as an advisor to Habitat for Humanity, Best Buddies, and Residence Hall Association. Previously at Hofstra, Kathleen served as a Resident Director for Constitution Hall and Vander Poel Hall, which houses the Honors College community. During this time, she worked closely with the faculty mentors to program in the residence halls and provide a rich and educational experience for the students. Outside of work, Kathleen enjoys spending time with her family, watching sports, and traveling.
I have been a proud member of the Hofstra University community since 1999. Prior to my current position as Senior Assistant in the Office of Student Advocacy and Prevention Awareness, I worked in the offices of the Center for University Advisement, Undergraduate Admissions and Vice President for Enrollment Management. These multi-faceted job experiences have afforded me a deeper understanding of meeting the various academic and personal needs of the students here at Hofstra. As a graduate of Hofstra and the mother of 3 Hofstra graduates, I am also in the unique position of being able to speak from personal experience about Hofstra and its vibrant, progressive student and administrative communities. I hold a BA in Political Science and I am currently pursuing a MSEd in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies.
In addition to my 4 wonderful children, I am married to my husband Kevin. I’m an avid reader, artist, alternative music fan and beach bum. I enjoy attending concerts and museum exhibitions in my spare time. I am also a dedicated swimmer and can be found most early mornings at the Hofstra Swim Center. Go Pride!
