SGA President’s Welcome
Dear Hofstra Pride,
My name is Abby Normandin and I am honored to serve as your President for the 2018-19 year.
The Senators, Justices, and Associates who comprise the 83rd Student Government Association have the privilege of advocating for their Hofstra peers at an exciting time in our community. Hofstra is having hard conversations, making difficult decisions, and our student body becomes more and more active every day. Because of this, we want SGA to move as quickly as you do.
Vice President Deandra Denton and I ran on a platform aimed at working #HandinHand with the Hofstra community. Through our six initiatives, we envision an empowered, collaborative, and unified student body. We envision a student body that is actively engaged in enacting changes they want to see.
This year, we will amplify the student voice in administrative conversations. We will improve campus safety. We will continue renovating campus spaces, cultivate a culture of consent, and restructure SGA’s internal processes. We will work towards more accessible healthcare resources. And we need your help in doing so.
Deandra and I are here because of you. We will channel all of our energy and resources towards initiatives and issues that you care about. Please never hesitate to reach out and let me know what you’re working on and how SGA can help; stop by our office, send me an email, or even just say “hi” on the unispan. I truly look forward to hearing your story and how SGA can be a part of it.
I am overwhelmed with excitement about getting started and I wish you the very best this year.
