Hofstra University Student of Color Empowerment and Leadership Retreat

Saturday, February 27th to Sunday, February 28th

The Student of Color Empowerment and Leadership Retreat (SCELR) is an annual retreat weekend that takes place during the spring semester in a residential camp setting. The SCELR weekend is designed for students to hone in on their leadership potential, focus on shared experiences, and to critically examine various issues that relate to living in a multicultural and diverse community. Students will return with a better understanding of how to be leaders within their diverse community through the PRIDE principles and how to remain successful as Hofstra students of color. Students also learn about the strong community that will continue to support them through their college career. During the weekend, student leaders of color work on building their leadership skills using a developmental process. SCELR is designed for students who identify themselves as a person of color as a primary identity.

SCELR is a program through the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement and is open to all undergraduates from Hofstra University. Applications available February 1st, 2016.
