Welcome Week FAQ

When is Welcome Week?
Welcome Week 2018 is Thursday, August 30, 2018 to Monday, September 3, 2018. There are important programs happening every day all day! The full schedule will be posted on our website in mid-August.

Where do I go for Welcome Week?
All new students attending welcome week should go to the North Intramural Field on Thursday, August 30, 2018 between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to check in. There will be signs through campus and the main entrance on Hempstead Turnpike and California Avenue directing you to check in. This is your first stop!

Is Welcome Week mandatory?
Welcome Week is the second phase of New Student Orientation. The program is designed to help you transition into college life at Hofstra and welcome you to the Pride! For these reasons, it is required for all new students to attend Welcome Week.

What if I'm a commuting student?
All new students attend welcome week! Commuting students will commute to campus each day of the welcome week program the same way they plan to commute to campus during the academic year. Commuting students should plan to check in at the North Intramural field on August 30, 2018 between 12pm and 1pm.

I'm a residential student, when do I move into my room?
Residential students will move into their permanent housing on the first day of welcome week (Thursday, August 30, 2018). Your first stop will be the North Intramural fields.

Should transfer students attend Welcome Week?
Our five day program is designed to engage all new students including our transfer students! We also have programs within our schedule that cater specifically to our transfer student population. Welcome Week is the prime opportunity for all students to make connections with fellow students, faculty, and staff.

Do I have to pay to attend Welcome Week?
Your $300 orientation fee covers new student orientation and welcome week.

Is there a version of the Welcome Week schedule that I can print out?
A PDF version of the brochure will be posted here in Mid-August. Please note that the GuideBook app will contain the most up-to-date information and change about Welcome Week. Guidebook app is in the iOS app store and on Google Play.
