Organizations and Affiliations

Alpha Kappa Delta

A national sociology honor society recognizing outstanding students. To be eligible for consideration, students must have a minimum grade point average in sociology courses (with at least 15 s.h. in sociology taken at Hofstra) and a minimum cumulative grade point average.  Interested students should contact Professor Shih, the AKD advisor, for more information.

Eastern Sociological Society/American Sociological Association

Regional and national sociological associations.  Every year, each organization sponsors an annual meeting with opportunities for undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and applied sociologists to present their research.  Students who are interested in learning more about the organizations or showcasing their original research at an annual meeting can find more information about the Eastern Sociological Society here and more information about the American Sociological Association here.

Association for Applied and Clinical Sociology

A national association for individuals interested in sociological practice.  The organization also sponsors an annual meeting and publishes a peer-reviewed journal.  More information can be found here.
