Program Descriptions
5 Year Dual Degree Program in Management (B.B.A.) and Business Education (M.S.Ed.)
Qualified undergraduate students can elect to enroll in a dual-degree program, combining their undergraduate bachelor degree in Business Administration with a Management major with a Master of Science in Education in Business Education. This program requires the successful completion of 153 semester hours, including at least 116 semester hours at the undergraduate level and 37 semester hours at the graduate level. It can be completed in five years. Students who are admitted to the M.S. in Education portion of the dual-degree program can use up to 12 semester hours of M.S. Ed.-level graduate course work to satisfy their bachelor’s degree requirements, subject to advisement and approval of the student’s B.B.A. major department chairperson.
M.S. Ed in Business Education
This course of study leads to New York State Initial Teacher Certification in business and marketing. This program is designed to blend on-campus preparation with field experiences in a variety of school settings, culminating in full-time student teaching. Literacy, multicultural education, and information technology are integrated throughout all aspects of the program. The program conforms to the New York State Learning Standards of Career Development and Occupational Studies.
Advanced Certificate in Secondary Education
The advanced certificate program in secondary education is a 25 semester hour, nondegree granting program leading to initial New York state certification necessary for secondary school and vocational secondary school teachers. Students are required to have a major or equivalent (a minimum of 36 semester hour s) in appropriate content area (or related area) during either their undergraduate or graduate study. On average, students complete this program in two academic years.
