Objectives of the Department of Marketing and International Business
To achieve the mission and general stated objectives of the Zarb School of Business, the department has the following specific objectives:
Department Objectives for B.B.A. in Marketing
- To provide students with a sound understanding of the field of marketing, and to enable them to obtain an appropriate entry-level marketing position leading to a successful career in any one of the functional or operational departments within an organization.
- Since consumer behavior drives most marketing activities, the department provides all marketing majors with a basic understanding of consumer as well as research tools to formulate strategic plans and develop appropriate marketing strategies.
- The department also provides opportunities for students to acquire knowledge and skills in a variety of contemporary marketing functional areas.
Department Objectives for B.B.A. in International Business
- To provide students with a sound understanding of the field of international business, and to enable them to obtain an appropriate entry-level international business position leading to a successful career in export management, international research and planning, or any other operational department within an organization.
- Through required language skills and a focus on an interdisciplinary course work, students are prepared to become involved with a variety of functions in a range of international environments.
Department Objectives for M.B.A. in Marketing
- To provide students with broad-based strategic tools and skills that will assist them in managing a wide range of functional areas in a 21st century marketing organization.
- The focus of the program is to provide students with decision-making skills that could be applied in a variety of situations in both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.
Department Objectives for M.B.A. in International Business
- To provide students with broad-based strategic tools, skills, and analytical techniques that will assist them in managing a variety of international functions for global and international companies.
- Through interdisciplinary course work and focus on decision-making skills, the program is intended to assist students in managing a variety of international areas in an organization.
Department Objectives for M.S. in Marketing
- To prepare students for middle- to upper-level positions within the marketing function at leading companies.
- An emphasis is placed on the design, implementation, and review of marketing plans.
Department Objectives for M.S. in Marketing Research
- To prepare students for middle- to upper-level positions within the marketing research function at leading companies or at specialized marketing research firms.
- Both quantitative and qualitative research skills are addressed in the program.
