The Hofstra American Marketing Association (HAMA), affiliated with The American Marketing Association, is open to all students interested in the various careers that are available in the field of marketing. HAMA meets every other Wednesday during common hours.
The main goals of HAMA are to provide students with career information about marketing, and to offer them the opportunities and resources to grow professionally. Students also develop their leadership skills and motivation to pursue a career in marketing.
HAMA presents professional speakers who discuss their own marketing careers and how graduating students should approach their careers. The students also have a chance to network with other students and professionals already in the field of marketing. Students who join HAMA receive Marketing News, a leading publication in the field. They can also use the Resource Center on MarketingPower.com, plus many other benefits.
If you are interested in joining or attending a meeting, contact Kaleigh Henderson, president via E-mail or Dr. Rick Wilson, faculty advisor (E-mail or (516) 463-5175).
The Advertising Club is open to all students. The Club was created for students to help in their development for entry and advancement in the fields of advertising, sales, and communication. The Advertising Club is also a place for students to network among themselves and with professionals in these fields.
The Club meets on a regular basis during common hours. Throughout the semester, speakers meet with the Club to present an overview of their industries, tell their own personal stories, as well as educate students on internships and jobs. The Club also makes trips to advertising agencies, television networks, media companies, and other firms involved in the advertising and communication industries. New York Advertising Club events are also attended by club members.
The club is affiliated with The American Advertising Federation (AAF), an organization that offers many benefits to students. For example, the Advertising Club participates in the AAF's National Student Advertising Competition, which is the premier college advertising competition in the United States. It provides more than 3,000 college students with "real world" experience by requiring a strategic advertising/marketing/media campaign for a corporate sponsor. Students present their work to industry professionals, meet competing students, and attend a job fair. Hofstra Advertising Club members have competed for the past five years.
