Description: Today's constantly evolving business world requires its professionals to be savvy about the myriad of laws and regulations that govern all forms of business transactions. In order to enter this arena successfully, graduates will be expected to have a comprehensive understanding of several areas of law and regulation that impact businesses on a daily basis. One way for students to gain this knowledge is to join The Institute for Legal Studies in Business, otherwise known as "The Institute". With a platform of distinguished guest speakers from various ranks in the legal profession, opportunities to shadow local attorneys, peer tutoring and mentoring, internship information and opportunities, exciting community service activities, interviewing and resume writing clinics, and excursions to NYC law firms and courthouses, membership in The Institute enables students to gain that edge that will set them apart from their peers. The Institute is run by legal studies students with the support, guidance, and assistance of the legal studies faculty.

Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) is an honorary organization for Accounting, Finance, and IT majors. The primary objective of the organization is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field. This includes promoting the study of accounting, finance, and IT (formerly BCIS), providing opportunities for self development and service, and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility. In order to be eligible to induct, you must have an accounting GPA of 3.2 or higher, an upper-level accounting GPA of 3.0 or higher, and an overall GPA of 3.2. Students can induct in the fall or spring semester.

The objective of the association is to promote the interests of Hofstra M.B.A. students, planning to pursue a career in finance.
The primary activities of the club include hosting guest speaker events and arranging for visits at financial firms and institutions where Hofstra students have the opportunity to meet with Finance professionals, and learn first hand about their experience, and career development.
In addition to career oriented events we also organize training workshops, which aim at developing presentation, as well as analytical and quantitative skills that are critical for finance careers. The Journal of International Business and Law (JIBL) is a joint scholarly publication between the students of the Hofstra University Frank G. Our mission is to promote scholarly debate and critical thinking by addressing the issues and topics that pertain to the current business and legal landscape. The mission of the Private Equity Forum at the Zarb School of Business is to broaden students' exposure to the Private Equity community, which includes: venture capital, growth capital and buyout investing. Members are exposed to private equity topics through speaker series, educational seminars, networking opportunities with investment professionals and meetings on Long Island and New York City. By providing the means to interact with senior private equity leaders, students are exposed to valuable recruiting situations both on and off campus. In addition, the Private Equity Forum seeks to galvanize the large but disjointed alumni community currently working in the private equity industry by focusing specifically on alumni relations and associated activities. Each year the club organizes a Private Equity conference targeted at industry professionals (which is fairly unique - most business school conferences are targeted at students), small group events and private luncheons with industry leading professionals. - M.B.A. / M.S. The Marketing Association is open to all Hofstra Graduate students and alumni. The primary objective of the Marketing Association is to assist all marketing candidates with the continuing challenges faced in marketing careers.
The Marketing Association hosts and sponsors events throughout the semester that enable students to come in contact with marketing professionals and get a glimpse into the Marketing industry.

The President shall act as a spokesperson for the MASA in the presentation of its positions and enunciation of its policies. He will preside over all meetings of the MASA and have the power to appoint and remove members of all committees, subject to confirmation by a majority vote of the members.
Internal Vice President shall inform the membership of the current initiatives and be in charge of general records and prepare correspondence from MASA. He will serve as a liaison between the Board members and the membership.
External Vice President shall act on behalf of the MASA to interact with academic and professional associations in and out of the school. He will serve as a liaison between MASA and student organizations on campus.
The Treasurer shall be in charge of the financial affairs and records of the MASA. He will make such records available for inspection to any member of the Board or general membership when requested.
Director of Information Technology shall be in charge of designing and support network infrastructure. He will maintain the website and ensure the information on the website is up to date.
All Officers shall also be members of the MASA.

- Zarb MBA/MS Microfinance Club
We are new to the Hofstra family and seeking an immense volunteering effort from our valuable members. We are tied up with NY state micro finance club (MFCNY). As we evaluate\e & contemplate the substance we need to achieve our professional goals, the ZMFC is the place for us to learn & imbibe the same professional goals which we are seeking.
Our two fold mission is to promote critical awareness of micro financing on campus and to create career opportunities for Zarb business graduates.
Our long term goal is to collaborate with micro finance banks to use micro financing as a tool to alleviate poverty by diversity i.e. micro financing insurance policies, micro financing home loans etc. In our association, there should be a free exchange of information and ideas about microfinance and to disseminate readily understandable, transparent and succinct information so as to further the microfinance field.
Currently, we focus on three main parts-- Awareness-- We will educate members with different concepts of microfinancing.
- Events-- We will organize events in which we will invite corporate leaders for "Speaker Series "from other state micro finance clubs and institutions.
- Career Opportunities--We seek to provide networking and job opportunities for members in the field of micro finance.

Zarb Women in Business is part of a national organization founded in 1979 at the Wharton School of Business. Hofstra University's Zarb Women in Business hosts a variety of speaker series, alumni connection programs and social functions to address current issues facing women in business today. In addition, we strive to establish contacts between members and business professionals to promote employment, career, and post-graduate school opportunities for its members.
