Marriage and Family Therapy
Admissions Requirements

The following are required for admission to the Marriage and Family Therapy Programs.



1 The Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy

bullet Graduate Record Examination scores of 450 on the verbal test and 900 on the combined verbal and numerical tests
bullet Three letters of recommendation
bullet An interview with a faculty member
bullet Prerequisites include one course in each of the following areas:

bullet child psychology, adolescent psychology and personality theory for a total of 9 semester hours
bullet an additional 9 semester hours, under advisement, in sociology, anthropology and psychology

2 The Professional Diploma in Marriage and Family Therapy

bullet Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field
bullet Three current letters of recommendation from persons who have knowledge of the applicant's counseling skills
bullet A typed, detailed resume of professional, clinical and related experiences
bullet A typed statement of professional goals and objectives

3 The Certificate in Family Therapy

bullet Applicable for attorneys, psychologists, school counselors, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, analysts, mental health counselors and nurse practitioners.

4 The Advanced Certificate in Sex Therapy

bullet Three letters of recommendation
bullet Satisfactory undergraduate and graduate cumulative average
bullet a personal interview
bullet a one-page statement as to how this program will assist you in your profession

5 The Advanced Certificate in Divorce Mediation

6 The Advanced Certificate in Addiction Studies
