School of Engineering and Applied Science

Did you know...?

  • The School of Engineering and Applied Science is the newest school to be launched at Hofstra University
  • Hofstra's Online Master of Science in Computer Science was ranked #10 nationwide by U.S. News & World Report.
  • The addition of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences makes Hofstra only the third school in the New York metropolitan area to have schools of law, medicine, and engineering (along with Columbia University and New York University).
  • Hofstra's engineering programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
  • A new Large-Scale Information Systems laboratory is opening in Summer 2013 that will be equipped with fully configurable servers, data storage devices, and networking equipment. Additional enhancements will be available to students in Fall 2013.
  • New graduate programs are in development.

The School of Engineering and Applied Science is Hofstra's newest endeavor that will educate future engineers and computer scientists to find creative ways to solve the "grand challenges" of the 21st century. Programs and curricula connect students to industry, connect theory to application, and encourage research and innovation, while making beneficial differences in our region and globally. The future of the computer scientist and the engineer is not the traditional stereotypical image of an individual who sits in a cubicle inventing "widgets", and Hofstra's new laboratories ensure that students will graduate with the most current knowledge and skills.
