Undergraduate Prospectus

Adventure Facility - Prospectus 2001
We know how it is ?

Throughout your academic career, most of the steps you?ve taken have been planned out for you. You?re told where to go, what to study, what to read, what to learn and how to apply it ? classes and teachers already chosen for you.

In one year, all that changes.

College is the decision that will, in a very real sense, lead to almost every other decision you?ll make in the future. But that?s not a reason to be intimidated. It?s a reason to be inspired! It?s a call to action ? a reason to feel that you have more control over your future, now, than ever before.

Your parents, teachers and counselors have probably asked you about your plans for college. Maybe you?re curious to see what?s out there ... what?s waiting for you after graduation. Or maybe it?s something you?ve been hesitant to think about, a choice you may feel unprepared to make. That?s okay. That?s why we?re here ? to show you everything you can experience as a Hofstra student. So the question remains ...

Take a minute right now, and think: What do you want from a college? Be selfish. Make a list of everything you?d like to see at a school ... everything you would want available to you as a student, as a person, as someone in love with learning. For the moment, don?t worry about what your classmates are looking for, or what others feel is the best school. Focus on your needs.

Are you looking for a place that?s close to home or out of state? Maybe someplace a bit closer to a major city, with plenty of opportunities to intern and get a head start on your career? Do you want to go somewhere that will let you focus on a specific field of study? Somewhere to excel in theater, business or communications? Or somewhere that offers courses in more than 100 different majors, such as mathematics, art history, journalism or engineering, just to name a few? When you have finished your list, compare it to what you see over the next several pages. What you find out may surprise you! Afterwards, you?ll understand why more than 80 percent of all high school students who take a tour of our campus make Hofstra their first choice. Sound like an invitation to you? It is. Call 1-800-HOFSTRA to take the first step toward your future.
