While Linda Gassenheimer is now a television and radio personality, syndicated journalist, bestselling author, spokesperson, and food consultant, she launched her career from her love and interest in history. After receiving her B.A. in History from Hofstra in 1964, she went on to teach, and then followed her passion to all things culinary.
She is the producer and host of the weekly segment "Food News and Views" on WLRN, 91.3 FM National Public Radio, and has made guest appearances on numerous radio and television programs throughout the United States and Canada.
She has appeared on national and international television programs, including Good Morning America, Cookin' U.S.A., and Canada AM, and had her own segment titled "Dinner in Minutes" on the Miami NBC TV affiliate. She has appeared many times on the Food Network.
Her Miami Herald column "Dinner in Minutes" is distributed on the McClatchy Wire Service to more than 4 million readers each week. In addition, she writes regularly for Bottom Line Newsletter and has written for Food & Wine, Prevention magazine, Cooking Light, and several other national publications.
Her latest books are Mix 'n Match Meals in Minutes for People with Diabetes (second edition) (2008), The Portion Plan (2007), Prevention's Fit and Fast Meals in Minutes, (2006), Good-Carb Meals in Minutes and Good-Carb Diet for Life (2005), and Low-Carb Meals in Minutes (2000), which reached No. 1 on Amazon.com's bestseller list for all books and No. 2 on the L.A. Times Hot Books List. It has been published in the UK, where it reached No. 1 on the UK Amazon.com bestseller list, in Norway and Australia.
She has been a spokesperson for many national and international companies, including Thermador, the Mushroom Council, Crisco Canola Oil, Quiznos Sammies, Martini & Rossi, The National Pork Council, Hodgson Mills, Florida Citrus Council, and Hiram Walker.
Her credentials include an advanced Cordon Bleu Degree; training with a two-star chef in France for three years; training with Simone Beck in the South of France and Marcella Hazan at her cooking school in Bologna, Italy; and 10 years' experience as executive director of a chain of gourmet supermarkets in Miami. She developed and ran CuisinEase cooking school in London for nine years.
