We have embarked upon a new effort – to raise the level of alumni donor participation. The Fund for Hofstra University is a vital source of unrestricted funds that helps the University attract the best and brightest students through scholarships and financial aid, expand academic offerings, recruit and support accomplished faculty, and enhance classrooms and other campus facilities with the latest technologies.

A robust fund helps lessen Hofstra’s dependence on tuition, while also keeping education affordable. The success of The Fund depends on the generosity of Hofstra alumni, friends and parents who want to ensure that generations of students receive an education that allows them to find their edge and become leaders in their fields.

Last year Hofstra University raised more than $1.4 million in unrestricted funds. To compete with our peer institutions we must continue to do a better job raising flexible funding so that we can respond to opportunities that allow us to strengthen our programs.

The Hofstra Society

The Hofstra Society recognizes donors who have generously contributed $1,000 or more to The Fund for Hofstra University. Members of the Hofstra Society enjoy numerous opportunities to socialize at University sponsored events, programs and symposia led by Hofstra University faculty and administrators.

Leadership Circle
A yearly gift of $50,000 or more

Benefactors Circle
A yearly gift of $25,000 to $49,999

President's Circle
A yearly gift of $10,000 to $24,999

Founders Circle
A yearly gift of $5,000 to $9,999

Kate and William Hofstra Circle
A yearly gift of $2,500 to $4,999

Netherlands Circle
A yearly gift of $1,000 to $2,499

Lions Circle (for recent graduates)
Graduates of the Last Decade (G.O.L.D.) are invited to become members of the Lion's Circle at one of the following levels:

Cubs - $150 or more for alumni who graduated one to four years ago
Junior Lions - $300 or more for alumni who graduated five to seven years ago
Lions - $500 or more for alumni who graduated eight or nine years ago

The Faculty/Staff Fund

Hofstra fosters ambition at every level of the institution - challenging you to help advance our university, and to use your talents to make a positive, formative impact on the lives/successes of our students.

Faculty and staff give more than intelligence and energy to help make Hofstra a world-class university. Last year, 130of us contributed in excess of $40,000 to The Fund for Hofstra University. This year we can top that mark with your help.

The Parent Fund

When parents give to The Fund for Hofstra University, they support and enhance the undergraduate experience of their student and of all Hofstra undergraduates.

Tuition covers only a portion of the cost of educating Hofstra students. All students are subsidized by the generous donations of parents, alumni, and friends to The Fund. Click here to learn more about Hofstra’s Parents Program.

Telepledge

We have found that one of the most cost effective and personal ways for us to reach all of our alumni and friends is by contacting them by telephone. In order to do that, we employ a diverse community of Hofstra students. These students contact thousands of our alumni and friends to talk to them about the latest happenings of the University, and offer them an opportunity to pledge their support with a gift to Hofstra.

Our callers pass an intense interview and extensive training sessions prior to making these phone calls. If you receive a call from one our students in the future, take an opportunity to find out how things are going on campus, reminisce about your favorite moments as a student, or hear what has changed since you last visited campus.

What is the power of one? At Hofstra University, we see the impact everyday. Each semester we are inspired by the stories we hear from our students, faculty and staff. Here are some examples of the power of one:

One question starts the lively debate among classmates.
One idea leads to a life-changing discovery.
One student gains knowledge, skills and lifelong friendships.
One gift buys textbooks, supplies or tutoring for an entire semester.

Each year, alumni support plays an important role in the University's success. Corporate donors, foundations, and the media focus on the percentage of alumni who give annually as a way to gauge the level of alumni satisfaction with their alma mater.
