Bio:

Linda Longmire, Ph.D., is a Professor of Political Science in the Global Studies and Geography Department at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y., where she teaches courses in Global Studies, Human Rights, and Women’s Studies. Additionally, she directs and teaches two unique interdisciplinary study abroad programs – “The European Odyssey” and “Beyond the Border: A Journey to the Heart of Mexico” – during which students travel and study in a mobile classroom setting. In addition to her varied publications, Dr. Longmire has co-edited four books on interdisciplinary topics—the environment, identity and self-knowledge, community, and gender. Professor Longmire is also the producer and host of a weekly radio show focused on contemporary issues entitled “What Kind of World: Visions and Choices” on WRHU, 88.7 FM. She is a board member of the Long Island Alliance for Peaceful Alternatives and is a representative of the International Peace Research Association (IPRA) at the United Nations.
