Spirit Support - Student Leadership and Activities

Hofstra University Spirit Support is overseen by the Office of Student Leadership and Activities and is a unique and exciting association composed of the Coed Cheerleaders, Dance Team, Pep Band and the Mascots. The major role of Spirit Support is to increase spirit and student involvement at Hofstra University athletic events. Although its main purpose is to support Hofstra's athletic teams, Spirit Support is also active in the community and at special events. This commitment is a strong indication of the unity so common among Hofstra students. Participating in these activities is a great way to become active on campus, meet fellow students, and increase your leadership and co-curricular involvement at Hofstra University.

Congrats to our Cheer Team!

The Hofstra Cheer Team competed at the 2011 European Open Cheer Championship held in Disneyland Paris, France on November 5, 2011. The team, chosen by Varsity Brands Inc. to represent the U.S.A in competition, competed against many other countries including Norway, Germany, France, and Italy, among others. The Hofstra Cheer team took home the gold receiving medals and a first place trophy. The all girl stunt group including Alie Sturchio, Brittany Schoenig, Monique Hutton and Arianna Scanlon also took first place nailing a flawless routine. The coed group, Mariel Carbone and Alek Kociski came in second place.

Congratulations to our Cheer and Dance teams!

During the weekend of January 14, 2011, both teams competed in the UCA/UDA Nationals competition. Hofstra Cheer came in first place in the Small Coed Division I competition for their sixth time since 2003. The Dance team placed third in Division I Hip-Hop and ninth in Division I Jazz!
