Pre-Health Advising

This website provides an overview of the various steps students interested in pursuing graduate studies in a health-related professions need to take to become competitive applicants. Successful applicants for medical schools combine academic strengths such as high GPA, extensive volunteer and clinical experience in the health professions along with personal qualities. Pre-Professional schools are looking for highly-motivated, committed, enthusiastic, thoughtful and well informed applicants.

It is important that students interested in graduate studies in health related areas understand early in the undergraduate years what is required to gain entrance to a professional school. Hofstra students can rely on their Advisement Dean and the Pre-Health Advisor to assist in the planning of their academic program and other credentials necessary for application to medical school or other health-related professional schools (dental, optometry, podiatry, physician assistant, physical therapy and veterinary). Students who have not begun their prerequisite coursework should contact your Advisement Dean as soon as possible to set up an appointment to discuss future plans.

All students interested in pursuing graduate studies in health-related professions should register with the Pre-Health Advisement Dean in the Center for University Advisement.
