How To Get An Internship

All of our students must do one, three-credit internship as part of their degree requirements in their major disciplines: print or broadcast journalism, mass media studies or public relations. As part of their internship experience, they must keep daily work diaries, meet every two weeks with their sponsoring professors and do a perm paper on a theme drawn from their internships.

They are expected to work hard and to give their Faculty Sponsors a skilled, enthusiastic effort. The Faculty Sponsor in turn is expected to teach the student intern everything they can and help them to become professionals.

Each of our interns is monitored through his/her internship by a Faculty Sponsor with at least 10 years of professional experience in journalism or public relations. These professors are listed on the Internship Agreement Form and area always available to you and the student.

All interns are asked to return the signed Internship Agreement Form and the Final Assessment Form to the department secretary as promptly as possible.

Yours Sincerely,
Bob Papper
Chair of the Department of Journalism, Media Studies & Public Relations
