Hofstra University Observatory

Hofstra University's "Stars on Sundays" series allows participants to use telescopes for star-gazing while learning about the universe from college astronomers.

Upcoming Sessions

Future dates for the fall semester are the first Sunday of each month:

  • The Spring Sky
    Sunday, May 4
    8:30-10 p.m.
    See Saturn, Mars and star clusters in the final star-gazing session of the spring semester at Hofstra.

Check for starting times, which will change in April as sunset is later.

The Hofstra Observatory, partially supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation, includes Celestron telescopes and computerized CCD cameras. The Observatory is located on the roof of the Chemistry and Physics Building.
