Education at the Hofstra University Museum

FOR TEACHERS & SCHOOLS K-12 - PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Through professional development classes, workshops, and educational materials, (which can be tailored to meet a school’s specific curricular needs) teachers are encouraged to expand their knowledge and discover methods of incorporating object-centered learning into their curricula to enhance learning in multiple disciplines. Programs and materials help teachers develop strategies for incorporating art into their curriculum areas. Sessions utilize the Museum’s collection and exhibitions to examine various topics, appeal to multiple learning styles, and exercise critical thinking skills.

Topics may include:
Interdisciplinary connections
Building visual literacy
Inquiry-based learning
Accessibility and special needs

Fee: $10 per participant
