Pride Pantry

The purpose of the Hofstra Pride Pantry is to maintain a functioning nonperishable food pantry to serve students, staff, and faculty of Hofstra University who are at risk of food insecurity. The Hofstra Pride Pantry’s goal is to service as many people as possible to ensure that those in need of a reliable and stable food source have support in getting sufficient daily nutrition. The Hofstra Pride Pantry will provide the most essential healthy food items to ensure that food-insecure populations are benefiting from this resource. Participants of the Pride Pantry will need to provide a valid Hofstra ID to use the pantry. At this time we are unable to provide resources to members of the community that do not have an active Hofstra ID.

The food pantry is for the staff, faculty, and students of Hofstra University. The Pantry can be accessed by any of these community members during their hours of operation.  Please note that to use the Pride Pantry you will need to bring your Hofstra ID and fill out a short, confidential online survey.

The Hofstra Food Pantry accepts nonperishable food donations. Based on research and feedback, the Hofstra Pride Pantry seeks to offer the campus community healthy food options. Stocked items can be expected to include the following:

  • Canned protein
  • Cereal (under 7 grams of sugar, at least 3 grams of fiber)
  • Dried fruit with no added sugar
  • Fruit canned in water or juice (not syrup)
  • Fruit preserves

  • Nuts
  • Peanut butter
  • Seeds/trail mixes
  • Unsweetened applesauce
  • Whole grain granola bars
  • Gluten-free options

The confidentiality of the participants is very important to the success and the mission of the program. All identifying information collected will be kept confidential and will only be used for the purpose of improving the service that we provide to our community members.
