Bio

Dr. Pugliese is a Professor of modern European history and the Queensboro UNICO Distinguished Professor of Italian and Italian-American Studies. He also serves as Editorial Director and Fellow of the Hofstra Cultural Center. His research interests cover a wide spectrum of topics related to Italian history, including the study of modern Italy, Italian fascism and anti-fascism, the Holocaust, Italian-American history and culture, and Italian Jews. He is the author, editor or translator of a dozen books; at Hofstra he has been director or co-director conferences on Primo Levi, Italian Studies, Naples, Soccer and Frank Sinatra. He is currently working on a new book, Dancing on a Volcano in Naples: Scenes From the Siren City.
