Bio:

Ellen Tashie Frisina is an Associate Professor and the track coordinator for the Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. She teaches many of the courses in the curriculum, and serves as academic adviser to PR majors, as well.

A graduate of Hofstra University (1977) and New York University (1996), Professor Frisina worked as a journalist for several years, even founding and publishing a weekly community newspaper, The Independent. She has more than 25 years of professional public relations experience, both corporate, non-profit and consultant work. She works diligently to maintain a strong network of professionals – including former students – whom she relies on for helping her students attain exceptional internships and jobs after graduation.

Professor Frisina has been called the "guru of public relations" at Hofstra. She was voted Distinguished Teacher of the Year in 2003, and has served on several important committees and associations at Hofstra, including Chair of the Senate Executive Committee, where she met with representatives from throughout Hofstra to advance beneficial policies and procedures. She is the author of "College is Not 13th Grade: A Handbook for Parents" which she lectures on each summer at New Student Orientation.
