What Should I Know About Student Employment?

Learn about eligibility requirements and other policies related to student employment

  • Students must be matriculated and enrolled at least half-time to work on campus (6 credits for undergrads, 4.5 credits for grads). International students and students holding Graduate Assistantships must be registered full time.
  • Non-international students may work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year and a maximum of 30 hours per week during summer and school breaks. International students are limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year and a maximum of 30 hours per week during summer and school breaks.
  • Federal Work Study (“FWS”) is a form of financial aid that is earned through working an hourly student employment position. For more information, click here.

Once you secure a position …

  1. You will need to complete payroll and tax forms to be onboarded into the payroll system.
  2. You will need to schedule an appointment to present these forms to the Office of Student Employment as well as original, unexpired identification for the Form I-9.  We cannot accept photocopies, faxes, or scans. Examples of acceptable forms of identification are:
  • Passport
  • Driver’s license AND birth certificate
  • Driver’s license AND social security card
