Hofstra University

Writing Center

Welcome to the Hofstra University Writing Center, where we offer free, confidential, one-to-one support for current Hofstra University undergraduate and graduate students.

The Hofstra University Writing Center works with Hofstra's current undergraduate and graduate students of all experience levels, cultural backgrounds, and learning styles, in an effort to support growth as writers, readers, and thinkers. Through conversation, tutors offer guidance to writers from across disciplines, at any stage in the writing process. Tutors work to promote writers’ independence, not through correcting a writer's essay, but rather through helping writers understand the expectations of their readers and the needs of each writing situation. To this end, we offer a supportive learning environment that welcomes diverse writers to receive assistance in obtaining the skills that they will need throughout their academic careers and beyond.

Appointments are required.
