Becoming a sports broadcaster is the dream of many sports fans. Have you ever sat glued to a game as the announcer kept you fascinated by the play-by-play? You were probably unable to react to anything else going on around you during the game as you fantasized about being there, live, and broadcasting -- in your own words and with your own voice -- the exciting and fascinating nuances of the game.

Don't dream about becoming a sports broadcaster. Take the ball and run with it!

Make a commitment to becoming a sports broadcaster.
When learning how to be a sports broadcaster, first make sure you learn the fundamentals of sportscasting including interviewing, writing, announcing, commentary and professional presence.

Make sure you get plenty of hands-on experience and in-depth critiques of your work in the classroom and in the field from professionals with decades of experience. A true expert will help you hone your skills in TV and radio play-by-play, anchoring and reporting.

When you've made the decision that becoming a sports broadcaster is for you, make sure you create a demo reel of your on camera work and upload it to your own YouTube channel.

More advanced learning for becoming a sports broadcaster. You'll need to learn professional research techniques and how to develop your own unique writing style and “voice.” Next produce in-depth stories about sports controversies and current events and create moving human interest features about sports heroes. Finally, gain experience in studio operations, and learn how to operate both studio and field equipment when becoming a sports broadcaster.

You’ll also need to learn about the different roles involved in staffing a sports broadcast, and what careers options are available. There's never been a better time than now to learn how to be a sports broadcaster.
