Note:
A Medication Request Form must be filled out by your child's physician, and must either be sent into the camp office ahead of time or accompany the medication being dropped off.

Medication must be in the original container, including the label with your campers name, dosage, and the prescriber's name.

Transportation


General Transportation Information

Parents are notified prior to the start of each session via email and/or a “Welcome Letter” in their mailbox as to the time their child(ren) will be picked up for door-to-door transportation. Please expect delays on the first day of each session, as the drivers and routes may change weekly.

Important things to note:
  • Approximate pickup times range from 7:45-8:30 a.m.; for Manhattan residents, pickups may be as early as 7 a.m.
  • Bus routes may change each week - please make sure your child knows their bus number.
  • Each camper must have the same pickup and drop-off address.
  • Door-to-door transportation will not be guaranteed if you are not registered and paid in full two weeks prior to the start of each week.

Campers typically arrive on campus between 8:45-9:30 a.m. and departure from the university is typically between 4:15-4:30 p.m.

Campers Not Riding a Bus

All campers receive a bus number regardless of if they are using the bus; for campers not riding a bus, their bus number will be T00.

If you elect to not use transportation, please drop off your camper by 8:45 a.m. to the Attendance Office within the Hofstra Physical Education Building, located on North Campus, to sign them in. Once signed in, our staff will bring them inside the PEB to meet their group.

When picking up your camper(s), please arrive at the “No Transportation” area at the Hofstra Physical Education Building by 3:45 p.m. to sign them out.

Pickup and Drop Off Locations

Dead-Ends or Cul-De-Sacs

Parents must contact the Transportation Office to make arrangements for dead ends or cul-de-sacs - these campers must meet the bus at the corner of the block for both pickup and drop-off.

Nassau County

Door-to-door transportation is provided for most Nassau County residents. Certain outlying areas such as Bayville, Lattingtown, Mill Neck, Cove Neck, Oyster Bay Cove, and Laurel Hollow may have to go to another stop in an area close by to meet the bus

Sands Point, parts of Port Washington, Kings Point, and parts of Great Neck may have an area pickup in lieu of door-to-door transportation.

Queens County

Door-to-door transportation is provided in the following areas: Little Neck, Rosedale, Bellerose, Floral Park, Cambria Heights, Douglaston, Queens Village, Springfield Gardens, and Bayside.

All other Queens locations are serviced by area pickups:

Arrival

Buses will arrive at Hofstra’s Physical Education Building at approximately 9 a.m., depending on the route. Our staff will meet the bus and will escort your child to his or her area. Please inform your child of his or her bus number so that he or she knows to remember it each day; bus numbers and routes may change on a weekly basis.

Please note that opening of on-campus summer camp or any on-campus programs will be subject to all then-current New York State and Nassau County Department of Health requirements and guidance. Any individual visiting the Hofstra campus or attending on-campus programs or camps will be required to follow all such rules and University policies relating to health and safety. Participants will be notified of University policies prior to the start of any on-campus program.
