Transportation

General Transportation Information for All Camps

Parents are notified approximately one week prior to each session as to the time their children will be picked up for door-to-door transportation. The bus driver will leave a “Welcome Letter” in your mailbox notifying you of the approximate pickup time. Please expect delays on the first day of each session.

  • Approximate pickup time is between 7:45 and 8:30 a.m. (Some bus routes may be earlier.)
  • Departure from Hofstra University is between 4:15 and 4:30 p.m.
  • Area pickups: Please indicate your choice on the Registration Form.
  • Each camper must have the same pickup and drop-off address.
  • Early pickup: See below.
  • Bus routes and drivers may be changed each week.

Door-to-door transportation will not be provided for any registrations received after:
  • Week 1: June 18
  • Week 2: June 25
  • Week 3: July 2
  • Week 4: July 9
  • Week 5: July 16
  • Week 6: July 23
  • Week 7: July 30

Pickup

Dead-Ends or Cul-De-Sacs

Parents must contact the Transportation Office to make arrangements for dead-ends or cul-de-sacs. Families that live on dead-end streets or cul-de-sacs MUST meet the bus at the corner of the block for pickup and drop-off.

Nassau County

Door-to-door transportation is provided for MOST Nassau County residents. Certain outlying areas in Nassau County such as Bayville, Lattingtown, Mill Neck, Cove Neck, Locust Valley, Oyster Bay Cove, Laurel Hollow, Matinecock, MUST go to Teddy Roosevelt School Parking Lot (Main Street and Larrabee Road) in Oyster Bay (Click for directions) by 7:30 a.m. to meet the bus, and return at approximately 5 p.m. to pick up your child.

Sands Point and parts of Port Washington as well as Kings Point and parts of Great Neck will have an area pickup. Please contact the transportation office for additional information.

Please bring your child to the selected pickup area by the specificed pick-up time below to meet the bus, and return at approximately 5:45 p.m. (depending on traffic).

Please bring your child to the selected pickup area by 7:30 a.m. to meet the bus, and return at approximately 5 p.m. to pick up your child.

Please bring your child to the selected pickup area by 7:45 a.m. to meet the bus, and return at approximately 5 p.m. to pick up your child.

Arrival

Campers Enrolled in Session 1,2,3

Buses will arrive at Hofstra’s Physical Education Building at approximately 9 a.m., depending on the route. Our staff will meet the bus and will escort your child to his or her area. Please inform your child of his or her bus number so that he or she knows to remember it each day; bus numbers and routes may change on a weekly basis.

Campers Enrolled in Session 4

Buses will arrive at the David S. Mack Sports & Exhibition Complex at approximately 9 a.m., depending on the route. Our staff will meet the bus and escort your child to his or her area. Please inform your child of his or her bus number so that he or she knows to remember it each day. Departure, parent pickup and drop-off for Session 4 will be at the David S. Mack Sports & Exhibition Complex.

Campers Not Riding a Bus

If your child will not be riding a bus, his/her bus number will be T00.

Morning Arrival: By 8:45 a.m. Please bring your child to the designated camper drop off area in the Physical Education Building to be checked in. Campers need to be signed in. We will bring your camper(s) to their designated area.

Afternoon Pickup: Arrive at 3:45 p.m. at the Physical Education Building; go to the "No Transportation" area and see supervisor. Please do not take your child(ren) without signing them out!
