The Signature Experience is a comprehensive blend of programming to support high school students in their preparations for college and career. College and Career Studies with Dr. Hanaa Wahba gives students an opportunity to learn about the skills required to prepare for and successfully navigate college and career. Path to College Writing with Professor Jennifer Marx will help students strengthen their writing skills through engaging lessons in style, structure, and voice - perfect for essays, applications, and beyond. This experience will have scholars participating in interactive workshops, gaining practical knowledge about the college application process, campus culture, and strategies for academic success. By week's end, participants will walk away with sharpened writing and analytical skills and a clear vision of the exciting opportunities college and specifically, Hofstra University, has to offer.

About the Instructors

Professor Jennifer Marx earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English and American Literature from Hofstra University. She is an adjunct professor in the Department of Writing Studies and Rhetoric at Hofstra, where she also tutors in the Writing Center. In addition to her work at Hofstra, Professor Marx teaches writing courses at other local colleges and freelances as a writer, editor, and consultant. She runs community writing programs at libraries as well. Professor Marx believes that strong writing establishes pathways to success, and she is excited to support students in building the skills they need for excellence in college and beyond.
