As a part of Hofstra’s Peer Mentor Initiative, each new undergraduate international student will be assigned a Global Mentor to guide them through their cultural transition at Hofstra University. Global Mentors are current undergraduate students who have gone through an intensive selection process to fulfill this volunteer role.
Each Global Mentor provides pre-arrival communication to a group of students, helps with international student orientation and arrival services, and provides support to the new international students throughout their first semester. Global Mentors selected into the program act as intercultural liaisons to the new international students to aid them with their adjustment to life at Hofstra and in the U.S.
If you are a new undergraduate international student, your Global Mentor will be in contact with you via email as you prepare to come to Hofstra University. Their job is to remind you of what you need before you get here, and of course, you can ask them any questions about Hofstra student life: student activities, residential life, and advice a cultural transition similar to yours. They also will provide you with information about different on campus events throughout the semester that you can attend together. They will be there for you for whatever you need throughout the semester.
If you are a new international student and you have not heard from your Global Mentor please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
