For Campers Entering Grades 2 - 12 Session 1 - July 1 - 12 Session 3 - July 29 - August 9 Session 4 - August 12 - 16 Hofstra Cheer Team Wins 8th College National Championship Title Hofstra Cheer Team won its 8th College National Championship title this past weekend in Orlando, FL. It is the team's 5th consecutive title since 2009 and there are only 2 other teams in other divisions across the country that have ever achieved this victory. With 25 teams in the Small Coed Division 1 the Hofstra Cheer team took home the gold and also won the All Girl Partner Stunt division for the first time as well. |

Hofstra Cheer Wins at UCA College Camp
C.A.N. Cheer Camp, under the direction of Hofstra Cheerleading Coach Christine A. Nowierski-Farina, is designed for cheerleaders who desire a full day of expert training in all facets of cheerleading. C.A.N. Cheer Camp offers an innovative and creative curriculum developed and instructed by Coach Nowierski-Farina and her Division I collegiate staff. Hofstra Cheerleading is a nationally recognized program with seven UCA College National Championship titles in 2003, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. The staff is all AACCA-certified cheerleaders, and the gymnastics sessions are led by qualified instructors.
Training includes cheers, dances, jumps, stunts, pyramid building, and gymnastics. A routine with skills the campers are taught will be performed at the end of camp for Family and Friends. The camp is structured to encourage both individuals and teams to believe in themselves and achieve their personal best. C.A.N. Cheer Camp encompasses all styles and skill levels, from beginner to elite. Cheerleaders are grouped according to age and skill level. Teams are able to work on routine building for the upcoming season as well as create spirited traditions for their schools.
Hofstra’s C.A.N. Cheer Camp utilizes the University’s state-of-the-art, air-conditioned facilities for gymnastics and stunting sessions.

What to Wear/Bring
Each camper should wear daily: cotton T-shirt, athletic shorts with no pockets, flat-soled sneakers/cheerleading sneakers, and sweat socks. Players must bring their own water bottle. Bathing suit and towel will be needed on assigned swim days. Please label all items clearly with first and last name. Hofstra is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Each camper takes home a cheerleading pom-pom.

Christine Nowierski-Farina has been head coach of Hofstra Cheerleading for nine years. Christine is honored to be coaching at her alma mater. She graduated with a B.B.A. in finance from Hofstra in 1999. A four-year member of the Cheer team, Ms. Nowierski-Farina was captain of the coed squad. During those four years the team honored her with many awards, including Most Dedicated '97-'98, '98-'99, Outstanding Jumper '98-'99, and Most Valuable '97-'98, '98-'99. The Hofstra Pride Club also presented her with the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award in 1999.
Coach Nowierski-Farina was head cheerleading instructor for the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) for five years, and in her sixth year, she became the territory manager for the cheerleading and Danz Team. At the 1999 Tri-State Cheer and Dance Open Coach Nowierski-Farina and her partner took first place in the College Partner Stunt Competition. She received NCA's Top Veteran Award in 2000, and also was chosen to judge NCA's 2000 World Championship in Germany.
During her career at Hofstra she has led the team to making Hofstra history, winning back-to-back national championship titles in 2006 and 2007 as well as in 2009-2011. The 2009 team was an amazing victory because 11 of the 16 members were first-year students and first-time competitors! Her Cheer team was highlighted in American Cheerleader Magazine in 2007, and in 2008 for the College Spotlight. Her camp teams have won the Most Collegiate Award, Leadership Award, and many first place trophies in the Cheer and Chant competition. Coach Nowierski-Farina is proud to have coached Lenée Passiglia, who was voted the 2008 American Cheerleader of the Year in American Cheerleading Magazine.
Coach Nowierski-Farina, president of CAN Cheer Inc., is director of Hofstra C.A.N. Cheer Camp, which is staffed by talented and qualified Hofstra cheerleaders. In addition, she also serves as a consultant for a new cheerleading book that was published in summer 2011. During the last two summers, Coach Nowierski-Farina helped produce The Cheering Life on MSG Varsity, and the Hofstra Cheer team has been featured hosting summer camps. She is AACCA-certified and also has a certification in safety, first aid and CPR. Coach Nowierski-Farina is fully committed to developing a strong family atmosphere, and will continually strive to keep this program one of the best in the nation!

- To present the fundamentals of cheerleading so that each cheerleader understands safety measures and proper techniques.
- To expose each cheerleader to a memorable experience that allows each student to develop individually.

- Warm-up, stretching exercises and flexibility training.
- Jumps and Jump Exercises.
- Stunts and pyramid building on safe cheer mats.
- Motion technique/sideline chants.
- Team building/individual goal-setting activities.
- Gymnastics with certified instructors using fun-shaped mats and inclines to help student learn fundamental to intermediate level skills.
